hi. i'm wondering...

the head of my character is attached to the body,
is there any way to go around this, should i import the whole model and animate it,
or is there any way of applying the mdd data to affect only the head inside LW?

best,
erik

maybe i got it... so as long as i make the complete model, for then to cut out the head, save it, animate it in TAFA, i should be fine, as long as i use "match vertices by coordinates" on the MDD plugin in LW?

That should work fine for MDD, as long as you don't accidentally move the head after you cut it off  Grin

Also, if you use Morph Mixer files, they only record the strength of the morphs at various times, so that will work on a decapitated head or the whole body either way.  Of course, you lose the benefit of automatic asymmetric morphing, because that only works for MDDs, so you're probably better off with your original idea.

As one last comment, just in case you have problems with either of the above:  You can change out your model at any time in TAFA.  This was designed so that you could improve your morphs or model as you discovered problems when animating, and will even provide guided remapping of morphs if the new model doesn't have the same morphs as the old model (for instance, you could try out the "Welcome to Facial Animation!" tutorial scenes with your own objects if you wanted).  Where this matters for what you're doing is that you could do all your animation with the decapitated head, and then if you have any problems getting the animation data back into LW, just switch the object to the full body before you save (this would be a last ditch effort when working with MDDs, because it is going to store out MDD information for the whole body, but I thought I'd mention it just in case it was needed -- and because I think the morph remapping is kinda cool  Wink )
