I had hoped to get some time to make progress on various TAFA features here at the end of October.  Unfortunately, the family health problems that have been an issue for the last year or so continue to worsen.  With these problems, I can't devote the amount of time necessary to make changes to TAFA.  I am sincerely sorry about the incredibly long delays.

When I reach a point where I can once again devote significant time to TAFA, I will post another message to that effect.

Felix,

As always, I appreciate your staying with me.

I have now run into at least three brick walls trying to port to OSX:

  • My first attempt, of writing my own partial Win32 implementation got real nasty, real fast -- there are a lot of implementation details that have to be handled to make things behave like Windows does, even if that isn't what you want or need.
  • Wine messed me up because they don't supply an STL implementation (I use STL incredibly heavily inside TAFA), and so the STL falls through to the underlying runtimes, which conflict with the Wine pseudo-Windows runtimes.  Bizarre memory crashes, hard to debug, nearly impossible to fix.
  • I started implementing my own STL classes, and ran into some quite nasty implementation details there, as well...

I might try porting my existing code onto something like FLTK (wxWindows gave me a headache just trying to find a starting point), but that's gonna be a huge rewrite as well.  I honestly don't know if an OSX port is ever going to happen, unless something major changes in my life.  I really hate having to say that, but it seems wrong to just keep dragging you and others along when I obviously haven't made anywhere near the progress I need to make for an OSX port to actually happen.

Crud...
 undecided

Hi, Mac
Thanks for your honesty... sad to read that the OS X porting seems so hard embarrassed. I really appreciate the workflow of your TAFA app but i understand your position.
I will be here from time to time, maybe the things change cry
Thanks a lot for your time.

Mac porting I know little of, although I can connect you with someone that should be able to help. As for FLTK thats a different story thats something I do know and use. Knock me up if you have issues with FLTK.

Well, Aurora, that could be a good news. Pretty disapointed to know that MAC porting was down. Not everything is lost yet. (Hope so).
